Why I love about shooting on the street

I thoroughly enjoy shooting on the street. Humans are fascinating critters and their interactions can be, to say the least, amusing. I was traveling around Canada and stopped for a few days in Quebec City. It was summer, and tourists were abundant.

I've said more than once, that photographs call out to me, that they tap me on the shoulder and whisper "Quick, shoot this before it goes away." Standing on the opposite side of the cobblestone street, I watched this mini-opera play out — three people locked in animated discussion, another isolated, engaged only with her phone, sitting on the window ledge, holding her at a distance from whatever was going being argued about. Dinner plans or world politics, it hardly mattered. I loved it.
