We photographers hear that question a lot, it's a question that suggests the camera does all the work. Now, to be candid, when I started out taking photos over 60 years ago, there was no auto-focus, no programs, no auto exposure, everything was fully manual.
It was years of learning to see the light, drawing on intrinsic ability to compose, appreciate contrast, color and negative space, to anticipate, to be aware in the moment that creates my photographs. The camera is the least important element, just as the pen a writer uses, or the smoker a BBQ chef uses.
That isn't to say that good gear doesn't help, but consider this, some amazing photos came from simple cameras, and some visual garbage from very expensive ones. It all depends on whose hands are holding the camera.
